A screening of Manuel Horrillo’s documentary Rif, una historia olvidada was announced at the Maison des Cultures in Brussels for 30 September 2010 at 19:00.

The film addresses the history of chemical warfare in the Rif during the colonial conflict of the early twentieth century. Through accounts of the war and its memory, it returns attention to experiences that have often remained outside familiar narratives of the period.

The screening invitation placed remembrance alongside a concern for relations between neighboring societies. It presented the documentary as an opportunity to listen to the people connected to that history and to discuss the legacy of violence.

The original announcement was shared through the Maison des Cultures’ film program.
