Imetlaa and the flamenco group NL Mundo announced a live album following a series of performances in Belgium and the Netherlands.
Titled Izran & Flamenco, the project brought the Rif’s oral song traditions into conversation with the intensity and melodic expression of flamenco. Its musical starting point was an exchange between performers, exploring the places where their styles could meet without losing their character.
The collaboration looked toward the cultural connections between North Africa and Andalusia as a source of inspiration. It was an artistic exploration of those relationships, rather than a claim that two complex traditions could be reduced to a single origin.
The original announcement also listed a presentation at Korzo Theater in The Hague. Information about the project was supplied by Imetlaa.
