Mohamed Rouicha died in Khénifra on 17 January 2012 at the age of 62. His passing left a deep absence in the musical life of the Middle Atlas and among the many listeners who knew his voice across Morocco.

A singer and musician closely associated with the lotar, also written loutar or outar, Rouicha developed a recognizable sound through his command of the instrument and his approach to melody. He performed in both Amazigh and Arabic, reaching audiences across linguistic boundaries.

His songs explored love, family, nature, and the concerns of everyday life. Through recordings and performances, he helped bring the lotar and the musical traditions surrounding it to a wider public.

Agraw offers its condolences to his family, friends, and listeners. His recordings remain part of the shared musical memory of the Atlas and beyond.
