Khalid Izri was scheduled to perform in Molenbeek on 22 June 2012 as part of the Fête de la Musique celebrations at La Maison des Cultures et de la Cohésion Sociale de Molenbeek-Saint-Jean.
The wider festival program ran from 21 to 24 June. Izri’s appearance placed Amazigh song within a celebration of the many musical traditions that meet in Brussels.
His work gives voice to love, freedom, cultural identity, and the experience of injustice. The concert announcement offered audiences a chance to encounter these themes through the melodies and language of the Rif.
