Rifana introduced Texsegh Cem in June 2012 after several years of work on the album.

The project was presented by Farid El Hamdioui with his friend Ali Allmaakchaoui. Its attention to Tarifit words and musical arrangements reflected a commitment to making original work connected to the Rif’s cultural life.

The album’s eight tracks were listed as Izran, Texsegh Cem, Mayemmi Twaddar, Nec d Cem, Amziw n Tudart, Aseqqir, Azuyet, and Tidet i Nessen.

Rather than setting tradition apart from change, the release offered another way for Rifian song to find a contemporary voice. Agraw’s original announcement shared the artwork and excerpts with listeners, introducing the project to audiences in the region and the diaspora.
